The start of the 2021-2022 school year is here. ๐ We can’t wait to see you at the Open House on September 2, 2021 from 4:00 – 5:00.
Creating New Learning Spaces
As the whole world embarks on a joint effort to slow down the spread of COVID-19, students everywhere are transitioning to a hybrid version of schooling at home. Our students at MPH are no different. We want to keep ourselves and our community safe; as such we are practicing social distancing.
Students at MPH embark on the first step of that journey. Here are a few pictures of the Bridge students getting ready to continue learning.
Playground Time
The weather warmed up and the playground appeared under the snow. There was a new energy during recess today.
Spontaneous Club 2
The last meeting of Spontaneous Club started with a a little zen moment of playing with shaving cream on the desks. (0.99 = hours of fun!)
Then we did an Escape Room. The children had a lot of fun. It was my first time doing the escape room in the classroom. I loved it! I think the did too. ๐
STEM Challenge
There are many cup stacking challenges. Grade 4 and Grade 5 students work together in this challenge. Students first got to build the tallest tower they could with 12 cups. Then we made things interesting. Working with a partner, combining their materials. Students had a few moments to plan together. Then they had to build a tower only touching their own cups – AND one more twist. No Talking! Silent communication only.
The 5 Cs
At MPH we work on developing the “5 Cs” in our Lower School students. They are Cooperation, Consideration, Confidence, Concern, and Courtesy. Here our students are working on some STEM skills – but also these 5 very important aspects of their development.
Cooperation is the biggest one at play here as these four boys work to build one fun marble maze. There was the division of labor, the support for each other, and the very physical support of finding the right piece and holding it all-together.
STEM Fair
The classroom is a mess and it is awesome. We are doing some great science! Stay tuned for an update to see each student’s project.
Morning Meeting – Settle your glitter
In our Morning Meeting, it came up that a settle your glitter jar would be a helpful thing to have in the classroom.
